Where is the Crimson Bear Motel in Silver Pines?
The Crimson Bear Motel is the third major area of the Silver Pines demo. Every published route runs the same way: the diner, the town street and the sheriff’s evacuation order, Garth’s Pharmacy for the underpass key, Rodney’s General Store and its meat locker, the flooded underpass beneath the store, and then the motel. Some players call it the Crimson Bear Hotel and previews use both names interchangeably, so search results for either term land on the same building.
The motel is where the demo stops feeling like a corridor. It is the first area that hands you a firearm, a genuine inventory upgrade route, a small shooting-gallery minigame, and an enemy encounter you cannot simply crouch around. It is also the area with the most quietly missable content in the whole demo, which is why players who finish the demo in ninety minutes often leave with fewer hip pouches than the game offers.
| Motel area | What it is | What you leave with |
|---|---|---|
| Lobby and check-in | The reception counter and the motel’s front entrance | The check-in key |
| Guest corridors | Upper-floor walkway, including the broken balcony railing | Hip pouch route one |
| Eddie’s suite | The missing musician’s room, opened with a guest code | The .36 Revolver |
| Game room | Small arcade-style room with a BB gun shooting range | The pool key |
| Pool and changing room | The swimming pool, its drain, and a changing room with no door | A fight you cannot skip |
| Motel shop and stairs | The motel’s shop front and the staircase above it | A path that Patch 1 cleared |
| Room 3 | The room belonging to the woman at the motel | Nothing before the full game |
What should you do first inside the Crimson Bear Motel?
Work the building front to back rather than hunting for the exits, because the two inventory upgrades reward backtracking but punish guesswork.
- Take the check-in key from the front of the motel. It is the item that turns the lobby into a usable building, and it was recorded around the twenty-six minute mark of a full demo playthrough.
- Open the upper walkway. This gives you both Eddie’s suite and the second-floor hip pouch route in one trip.
- Enter Eddie’s suite and take the .36 Revolver. You need it before the game room, because the second hip pouch is behind a wooden grate that only a firearm opens.
- Win the game room BB gun range for the pool key.
- Cross the pool and its changing room, then sweep back for anything you skipped.
[!tip] The revolver changes the motel more than it changes combat The .36 Revolver is the tool that opens the game room’s vent grate, a locked strongbox, and padlocks elsewhere in town. Treat the first few rounds as keys, not ammunition. The developers later acknowledged that the locked strongbox placement made people miss this entirely.
How do you open Eddie’s suite at the Crimson Bear Motel?
Eddie’s suite is a guest-code door, and the code is a four-digit style lock you type while the world keeps moving. The value that circulates in community walkthroughs came from one recorded playthrough, not from the developers. Read it as an example of the answer format rather than the answer itself, and always check the guest paperwork and notes in the room before assuming a number.
[!warning] The suite code may be generated per run A hands-off developer preview states that the puzzles and codes are randomized between every run. That claim has a single source, but it is the single most important thing on this page: if it holds, every code copied from a video is wrong on your save. The reliable method is to read the code out of the environment for your own playthrough. The same caution applies to every number quoted across this site, including the ones collected on the demo puzzle codes overview.
Once the door is open, the room reads as a character study: it is the missing musician’s last known address, and everything in it is a clue about where the demo is heading. The revolver is the practical prize. Reloading is performed one round at a time through a manual reload sequence, which makes every missed shot cost real time in a fight, and the developers specifically warned against spending ammunition on concrete walls and rock faces because the full game supplies a more direct tool for those.
What does the game room BB gun range give you?
The game room holds a BB gun shooting gallery, and winning it awards the pool key. This is one of the demo’s better-designed detours because the minigame is secretly a weapon tutorial: it teaches you to track a small target with the game’s deliberately heavy, committed aiming, in a room where missing costs you nothing but a retry.
The pool key unlocks the motel swimming pool and its changing room. Skipping the gallery does not soft-lock the demo, but it removes one of the few places where the game teaches aiming without charging you ammunition, and it gates the pool section that several other pickups sit behind. Find the pool key before you decide the motel is finished.
Where are the two hip pouches at the Crimson Bear Motel?
Both publicly documented hip pouches are in this building. Each one adds two inventory slots, and each one is behind optional movement or a firearm rather than a key.
| Hip pouch | Location | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Motel hip pouch one | Crimson Bear Motel, second floor | Climb the stairs, turn left, jump the gap at the broken balcony railing, keep heading left, and vault down |
| Motel hip pouch two | Crimson Bear Motel, right side of the game room | Shoot the wooden vent grate overhead with the revolver, jump up, and crawl inside |
The second route is the one players most often walk past. One Steam poster admits playing through the demo three times without finding the extra pouches and only understanding the grate after reading a forum thread, and the fix was a single idea: the vent is a target, not scenery. If you have the revolver and the grate is still intact, you have not finished the game room.
There is a documented conflict about how many pouches the demo contains at all. Some players report three, adding up to six extra slots; others report two secret upgrades, and at least one player found only the single one awarded near the end of the demo. The satchel count is genuinely unsettled, so the honest answer is that the two locations above are the confirmed ones and the remainder is disputed.
Is the pool drain enemy at the motel avoidable?
The swimming pool has a drain, and a walkthrough recording places a zombie-type enemy emerging from it, nicknamed in that video’s chapter list as the pool drain encounter. That is a single-source detail, so treat the nickname and the exact trigger as community shorthand rather than a documented spawn rule.
What is better supported is the changing room. The pool changing room has no door, so an enemy there will follow you out. A player singled this out as the one encounter in the demo that cannot be avoided, which is worth knowing if you have been treating every fight as optional. It also makes the pool section a bad place to be short on healing items or melee durability.
[!note] Fight or leave The rest of the demo rewards stealth, crouching, and walking away. The pool changing room is the exception the community keeps naming, so clear it when you are stocked rather than when you are limping.

Can you open Room 3 at the Crimson Bear Motel?
No. Room 3 belongs to the woman staying at the motel, and the room itself is one of the doors the demo deliberately keeps shut. A player inventorying what cannot be completed in the demo lists “Crimson Bear Motel Room 3 (the lady’s room)” alongside the boarded shack and the locked dressing room, and another player’s progress note runs: “I don’t have the card for the woman’s room or the key for the blue door.”
The important nuance is that talking to her is still the intended path. Players who got past this point report that the conversation opens a different route that does not go through her door at all, which means you can progress past her without the keycard. If you are standing in front of Room 3 wondering what you missed, the answer is nothing: you are meant to talk, not enter.
What did Patch 1 change at the motel shop?
Demo Patch 1, released 2026-06-05, included “enemies no longer blocking the bottom of the motel shop stairs” in its change list. Before that fix, the motel shop staircase could fill with enemies and effectively cut the building in half, which is exactly the kind of thing that turns an exploration area into a wall. The same patch also fixed a stuck spot on the Rabbit Hole Bar stairs, a stuck spot under the boardwalk, rebalanced the Crawler enemy, and improved the film grain toggle and fullscreen default.
The motel also has its own recurring stuck report in the community: a thread titled “Stuck At the Motel Locked Gate” appears in the Steam discussion list. If you are standing at a locked motel gate and nothing you own works, check whether you have actually collected the check-in key and worked the lobby side of the building before assuming the gate is the problem.
[!critical] Not everything at the motel is a bug Room 3, the locked motel gate, and other sealed doors in the demo are intentional. The demo is a slice of a larger game, and the developers have confirmed that at least one sealed location needs an item that does not exist yet in the demo. Do not spend shotgun shells or revolver rounds testing concrete and rock; the community’s repeated advice is that these surfaces are not breakable in this build.

The demo is still downloadable, and the patch notes for both demo updates are published on the game’s Steam news hub: Silver Pines news and patch notes. For the wider building-by-building route, the community thread on stuck progression and hip pouch locations is the source most of this page’s pouches and vent tricks trace back to, while the locked gate thread and the avoiding combat thread cover the two most common motel walls.
